Fissure sealing

The term fissure refers to any grooves and lower lying areas of the dental surface. Since tooth decay can form in these fissures they are sealed preventatively (fissure sealing). First of all the teeth are cleaned thoroughly. Fissures are then sealed using a thin-flowing composite (plastic). A cofferdam is used for isolation of the area.
